David Welsh

David is a management consultant based in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he lives with his wife, daughter and hundreds of vinyl LPs.

One of our founding trustees, David has been to Kenya several times over the past decade, spending time in a children’s home in Thika and with our partners at the Macheo organisation in Madaraka.

He was appointed as chair of Kipawa at our AGM in April 2020.

Kirsty Welsh

Kirsty works and lives in Edinburgh with her husband David and their daughter and is one of Kipawa’s founding trustees. By day she is a project manager for a large brewer but is also Kipawa’s Secretary responsible for fundraising and general admin.

She most recently visited Kenya in October 2018 where she reflected on the positive impact Kipawa has been making since her first visit in 2011.

Bill Stevenson

Bill, was previously the Chief Executive of The Boys’ Brigade in the UK and Ireland and has been involved with many other charities as a trustee and staff member.

Prior to working for the Boys’ Brigade he was a manager with a software house specialising in providing systems for housing associations. He now has a part time role leading Global Fellowship the BB international umbrella organisation.

Bill lives in East Lothian where he an elder in his local Church of Scotland congregation. In his spare time he enjoys walking, travel and the theatre.

Bill is treasurer for Kipawa.

Will Hammond

Will got to know Kipawa through the Golf Fundraising days. In 2020 he headed to Kenya on a sabbatical and ended up spending six months on the ground with our implementation partner, Macheo. Inspired by the difference the charity was making, he volunteered to become Kipawa's newest trustee.

He lives in London, working in local government and playing or watching cricket in his spare time.

Kieran Hudson

Kieran lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland. He and his wife Amanda spent several months in Kenya in 2008, volunteering at a children’s home in Thika. He followed that up with a further volunteering stint in 2009 which gave him the idea and the impetus to establish Kipawa.

He has visited our projects several times since, most recently in summer 2016.

He was President of Kipawa Trust International from its inception until 2020.

Clare Jones

Clare lives in East Lothian with her husband and two children. She has worked for the Civil Service, in Whitehall and for the Scottish Government, in policy areas related to social work, education, the constitution and human rights. She also spent several years working in an international sporting federation in Switzerland.

She visited Kenya for the first time in 2014.

Macheo

Our partners on the ground in Ruiru are an NGO called Macheo. Macheo has an established infrastructure in Kenya which means that we can swiftly and efficiently channel Kipawa funds where they are most needed.
