Our Team
Kipawa’s Trustees and Partner Organisations
-
David Welsh
David is a management consultant based in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he lives with his wife, daughter and hundreds of vinyl LPs.
One of our founding trustees, David has been to Kenya several times over the past decade, spending time at a children’s home in Thika and with our partners at the Macheo organisation in Madaraka.

Kirsty Welsh
Kirsty works and lives in Edinburgh with her husband David and their daughter and is one of Kipawa’s founding trustees. By day she is a project manager for a large brewer and is currently Kipawa’s Chairperson.
She most recently visited Kenya in October 2018 where she reflected on the positive impact Kipawa had made since her first visit in 2011.

Kieran Hudson
Kieran lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland. He and his wife Amanda spent several months in Kenya in 2008, volunteering at a children’s home in Thika. He followed that up with a further volunteering stint in 2009, which gave him the idea and the impetus to establish Kipawa.
He has visited our projects several times since, most recently in summer 2016.
-
Rebecca Johnson
Rebecca lives in London with her partner and two young daughters.
She has spent the last 10 years working in local government policy and before that spent 4 years working for a number of charities supporting children and people with disabilities.
She is looking forward to visiting Kenya in the future!

Will Hammond
Will got to know Kipawa through the Golf Fundraising days. In 2020 he headed to Kenya on a sabbatical and ended up spending six months on the ground with our implementation partner, Macheo. Inspired by the difference the charity was making, he volunteered to become Kipawa's newest trustee.
He lives in London, working in local government and playing or watching cricket in his spare time.

Claire Bruce
Claire has known Kirsty and David since their university days and has been a longterm supporter of Kipawa, first as a donor and now as a trustee.
She lives in the Scottish Highlands with her husband and their two dogs. Their three adult children have (almost) all flown the nest, leaving some spare time for reading, walking and wine. She hopes to visit Kenya soon to see the work Kipawa supports.

Our partners on the ground in Ruiru are an NGO called Macheo.
Macheo has an established infrastructure in Kenya which means that we can swiftly and efficiently channel Kipawa funds where they are most needed.
